Blair Trimble Inducted into Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute’s Education and Research
Foundation Hall of Fame

SCHAUMBURG, ILLINOIS - June 10, 2010 - The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute’s (CRSI) Education and Research Foundation recently announced the induction of Blair Trimble, Jr., into the Foundation’s Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame provides for permanent recognition of those who have made significant contributions to the advancement of purposes of the foundation.


New Inductee

Blair Trimble, Jr., a civil engineer and native of Nashville, Tenn., co-founded the Steel Service Company in 1957. Trimble and his company joined CRSI in the early 1960s. Over the years he has served on a number of CRSI committees and was one of the original members of the Board of Directors of the CRSI Educational Fund, Inc. (CEFI), founded in 1991, now the CRSI Education and Research Foundation. Blair served as the second President of the Foundation and worked to pull the membership together to support the Foundation. During that time he clearly understood and communicated the goal of the Foundation to work with civil engineering departments of colleges and universities to develop a relationship and understanding of steel reinforced concrete in the construction industry. Trimble also was active in civic and social community services, including Chairman emeritus of the Knoxville Area Chamber of Partnership, past President of the Cherokee Country Club and the Vanderbilt Engineering Alumni Association.


Hall of Fame Requirements

Hall of Fame inductees must be individuals that provide significant contributions to the advancement of the purposes of the Foundation. Any corporate entity may be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame, providing the corporation is a CRSI member in good standing and meets the criteria for significant contributions and advancement of the purposes of the Foundation.

The Board of Directors uses the following guidelines when considering candidates for the Hall of Fame:

· Must be a member or former member of CRSI in good standing.

· Length of service in CRSI.

· Positions held in CRSI.

· Local, regional and national CRSI involvement.

· Significant contributions to CRSI.

· Significant contributions as an industry leader.

· Stature of the candidate in business and the community.

· Reputation of the candidate both morally and ethically.


CRSI Education and Research Foundation

The CRSI Education and Research Foundation is a nonprofit educational foundation responsible for funding and administering undergraduate scholarships for architectural and/or engineering students; graduate research fellowships, and scholarships and/or training programs at vocational/technical schools which offer programs in estimating and/or detailing of reinforcing steel. CRSI Foundation works with the CRSI Education Committee and the Research and Development Committee in designing and implementing programs.
